FAQs

What are groups?

Groups are made up of 10–16 people who gather weekly to discuss the previous weekend’s sermon, pray, and for accountability and care as we seek to minister to one another. Each group has a trained facilitator. Most meetings last 90 minutes..

When/where do groups meet?
What about children?

Groups are for adults only. Of course, exceptions are made for nursing newborns up to six months. For home groups, we leave it up to each family to work out their own childcare. Sometimes it works best for families to share a sitter or swap childcare with another family whose group meets on a different night.

This Fall (2025), childcare will be provided for all on-campus groups. As we look ahead, starting with future seasons, the church will no longer be able to offer childcare. We encourage families to plan accordingly, and we’re committed to helping you stay connected in community during this next season.

What does it cost?

The cost of a group is the cost of commitment. At the end of each quarter, you have the choice of recommitting for another season, trying a new group, or taking a break from groups altogether.

What will we study?

Groups are based on the previous weekend’s sermon. To use the lecture-lab relationship as an illustration, think of the weekend sermon as a “lecture” on Christian living, and your small group as a “lab” where you get to roll up your sleeves and discuss how the sermon works in real life. Each week there will be a handful of questions on the sermon guide that you’ll answer before your small group meeting. It usually takes 20–30 minutes per week to prepare for small group.

Why weekly meetings?

Weekly meetings help your group gain (and sustain) the relational momentum that’s so vital to building community around God’s word. People need a community where they’re known, loved, and cared for. This kind of meaningful relationship is built on regular and intentional interaction. We believe weekly meetings provide a good rhythm for that level of interaction.
